LA Times Festival of Books Featuring Ten Taiwanese Literary Books Kevin Chen Participates in the Fiction Panel Discussion

2023 LA Times Festival of Books
The largest Los Angeles Times Festival of Books in the United States will kick off at the University of Southern California on April 22 and 23, 2023. The Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles will host Booth No. 149 under the theme of “Literature as a Reflection and Dialogue." The Taiwan Academy is collaborating with the National Taiwan Museum of Literature, Taiwan Creative Content Agency, and the Taipei Book Fair Foundation to select 10 Taiwanese literary books for exhibition. This joint effort aims to promote Taiwanese literary works in the western America.

Kevin Chen, a recipient of both the Taiwan Literature Award and Golden Tripod Awards in Taiwan, released the first-ever English version of his book "Ghost Town" in October 2022, which was soon selected as the New York Times most anticipated book of fall 2022. Kevin Chen is thrilled to be joining the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books panelists in the section "Fiction: The Struggle to Live" at 12 p.m. on April 22, 2023, at the Albert and Dana Broccoli Theatre. Additionally, both Kevin Chen and Crystal Lee, the author of the children’s book "Kai the Dancing Butterfly,” will be present at the booth of the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles to meet with book enthusiasts.

We have selected ten excellent Taiwanese literary works to exhibit at the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The books include "Ghost Town" by Kevin Chen, "The Whisper" by Yu-Ko Chang, "The Sniper" by Kuo-Li Chang, "Green Monkey Syndrome" by Andrew Yeh, "The Mermaid’s Tale" by Wei-Jing Lee, "The Piano Tuner" by Chiang-Sheng Kuo, "Look at You! Look at the Mess You’ve Made?" by Hsu-Kung Liu, "Kai the Dancing Butterfly" by Crystal Lee, "Existence or Non-existence" by Kuei-Shieh Lee, and "Taiwanese Literature Historical Top 100." All these works have been translated into English and are of exceptional quality. We invite you to explore Taiwanese literature and visit our booth to receive a special gift from the National Taiwan Museum of Literature.
