Taiwanese Comics to be Featured at Comic-Con@Home 2020 Despite the Coronavirus Impact

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has not dampened the enthusiasm of comic book fans for the much-anticipated debut of Comic-Con@Home 2020, an online format of the world comics convention, Comic-Con International: San Diego. Scheduled on July 22-26, 2020, Comic-Con@Home not only features the Online Exhibit showcasing contents from a great cross-section of exhibitors, but also presents over 350 panels. As one of the exhibitors, Taiwan will display 10 original fantasy comic works from local artists. In addition, Taiwanese manga artist Ponjea will share his experiences about content creation and production at a Comic-Con@Home panel with the theme "Travel Through Time with Comics" at 18:00 PDT on July 24th 2020 (9:00 Taiwan Time on July 25th 2020). Seen and Heard: Filmmaking, Storytelling, and the Asian-American Identity

The 4th Annual Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF) launches its 2nd Outreach Event with webinar: “Seen and Heard: Filmmaking, Storytelling, and the Asian-American Identity” followed by its first outreach virtual talk show “So What Now?!” held in May. The webinar will be streaming on Facebook Live and YouTube at 2:00 PM PT on Saturday, July 25th, 2020. Moderated by Cindy Lu (executive director of TAFF), the webinar will explore the cultural history of Asian-American filmmakers past and present. The panelists will reflect on how we can encourage the Asian American community through filmmaking to value our unique origins and tell these authentic stories boldly. With support from the Ministry of Culture, Taiwan (R.O.C) and Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, the 4th Annual Taiwanese American Film Festival (TAFF) is held by Taiwanese American Professionals - Los Angeles (TAP-LA) this October. TAFF has proudly held three successful years of events, scouting top emerging talent and bridging generations and cultures, as a platform for diverse storytelling, serving as the only showcase in the U.S. of films and multimedia by Taiwanese and Taiwanese American filmmakers.

Taiwan Season Online Symposium 2020: Connecting with Taiwan

Launched in 2014, the Taiwan Season has become a hot tip at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe by showcasing a wealth of dance, theatre and live performance. This year, responding to the challenge of COVID-19, the organisers have cooked up a virtual programme of cultural close encounters. Spread across 16 sessions (including four repeats) from Tuesday 4 to Friday 28 August, the online symposium is a thrice-weekly series of scintillating artist interviews (Tuesdays, 5:00–5:45 am PDT / 1:00–1:45 pm UK Time) and in-depth webinars (Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:00–8:00 am PDT /1:00–3:00 pm UK Time).
