2022 ALTA Emerging Translator Mentorship: “Literature from Taiwan” |

The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) announced the mentees for the 2022 Emerging Translator Mentorship Program, within which Sandra Chen from the San Francisco Bay Area, was selected for “Literature from Taiwan.” She intends to work on the translation of 目送, which she has chosen to render as Watching-Go, by Taiwanese writer and cultural critic Lung Ying-tai, who is the first Minister of Culture of Taiwan. The mentorship will conclude with a presentation of her translation work at the annual ALTA conference in the fall of 2022. The leading international contemporary art fair, the Frieze Los Angeles, will be held at Beverly Hills from February 17 to 20, 2022, bringing together over 100 important galleries from all over the world.
Taiwanese artist Wu Chi-Tsung presents his new works from the Wrinkled Texture Series and the Cyano-Collage Series, re-evaluating the tradition and his abiding concern with process, perception and vision. Wu’s exhibition is curated by Sean Kelly Gallery, New York, at booth A8.
Wu has been awarded the top prize of the “Taipei Arts Award” (2003), the “WRO Media Art Biannual” (2013) – Award of Critics and Editors of Art Magazines,” the “Liu Kuo Sung Ink Art Award” (2019), short-listed for the “Artes Mundi” (2006), and the “Prudential Eye Awards” (2015). The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (NTMoFA) has held the "International Biennial Print Exhibit" since 1983 to promote the art of printmaking and to foster international cultural exchange with the participation of talented artists around the world. The 2022 exhibition will be held at the NTMoFA from August to November. The online application period for submissions was open from February 8-28, 2022. From its beginning in 2017, Taiwan Biennial Film Festival (TBFF) has been the exclusive event showcasing Taiwanese films on the west coast of the United States. The list of films playing at the 3rd TBFF included 20 feature films and short films, as well as 3 industry panels. The 53rd World Schoolchildren’s Art Exhibition will be held at the National Taiwan Arts Education Center in Taipei, Taiwan, from July 23 to August 7, 2022.
