This time, with the concept of "Love & Legacy," the artwork conveys the meaning of the whole world being one family and passing something on to the next generation, thereby signifying that artistic creation can transcend the boundaries of time and space. With an artistic legacy passed down the generations, it will continue to touch people's hearts, shaping culture and values. Introducing the Taiwanese Artist in Residence - HUANG I-Chieh at 18th Gallery Center
18th駐村 _706.350
Huang I-Chieh is a contemporary artist spanning his creative efforts across multiple genres, including video, photography, performance, and installation. The artwork “ Parathon," a recent creation of Huang I-Chieh and Liao Xuan-Zhen, originates from a Parathon model constructed with disposed materials by protesters of Taiwan's Sunflower Movement (2014). In 2023, the artists invited over 30 former protesters of the movement to collaborate in constructing an architectural installation in downtown Taipei. Through this initiative, the artists sought to examine the impact of the Sunflower Movement almost a decade later and to share the current status of the activist communities.

After the completion of the Parthenon project, Huang I-Chieh began organizing various materials collected throughout this series of projects with the intention of making them into an exhibition. During the residency from July to September 2024, he plans to conduct research on the history of resistance and related artistic outputs in Los Angeles for inspiration.
