U-Theatre, a unique group in Taiwan known for its combination of theatre arts, gurdjieff Movements and percussion, just had two master classes (November 2) and one performance “Sword of Wisdom” (November 3) at Festival Internacional Santa Lucia. At the outdoor main stage (Explanada de los Héroes), more than 2,000 audiences were deeply moved by dancer's powerful movement and art of drumming. Through drumming, the audiences also partake of the power of their purification and it is the spirit of U-Theatre so-called "Movement in stillness; stillness in movement."

Miss the chance to watch the show at Monterrey? Don't worry! Welcome to watch the performance here: https://www.facebook.com/festivalsantalucia/videos/300191076220962/?mibextid=rS40aB7S9Ucbxw6v

"And Miles to Go Before I Sleep" and "Mary My Dead Body," Taiwan’s official submissions for Best Documentary Feature and Best International Feature at the 96th Academy Awards, were on display on November 9, 2023, at Culver Theater. The Taiwan Creative Content Agency, the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, and the Asian World Film Festival co-organized the Taiwan Film Day, which also included a Q&A session as well as a reception to strengthen ties between the Asian and Hollywood film industries.

The screening of the documentary "And Miles to Go Before I Sleep," followed by a Q&A with director Tsung-Lung Tsai, is based on a criminal case and a terrible tragedy that happened in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 2017. Quoc Phi Nguyen, an undocumented Vietnamese migrant worker, was shot nine times and killed by a young police officer as Nguyen was wandering along a river in his underwear and engaging in physical combat with onlookers and the police.

Director Wei Hao Cheng and producer Pai Lunn Jin were in attendance at the screening of "Mary My Dead Body," a comedy that combines a supernatural tale, a police investigation, and LGBTQ+ themes, which shows tremendous creativity and brings a successful blend of Taiwanese traditional culture, modern perspective, and humor.

ICOM COMCOL 2023 Annual Conference, held from October 24 to 27 in Taipei City and Yilan County, featured 25 international participants, including scholars from Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, and the United States. This groundbreaking event was co-hosted by ICOM's International Committee for Collecting (COMCOL), the National Taiwan Museum (NTM), and the Chinese Associations of Museums (CAM), marking Taiwan's debut as an international host for a conference dedicated to museum collections.

The opening ceremony on October 24 was graced by the presence of prominent figures, including Minister of Culture Shih Che, Vice President of ICOM Inkyung Chang, Vice President of COMCOL Danielle Kuijten, and other esteemed COMCOL board members.

Minister Shih Che expressed Taiwan's honor in hosting COMCOL's annual event, emphasizing the platform it provided for museum professionals to share experiences. He also announced that Taiwan would host the International Committee for Regional Museums (ICR) Annual Conference in Tainan in December, reinforcing Taiwan's commitment to the advancement of museums and museology on a global scale.

Besides keynotes and paper presentations, the conference also featured four dialogue sessions themed “Living Collections”, “Indigenous Stewardship”, “Migration Conversation”, and “Ethics and Care in Collecting,” aiming to emphasize diversity and sustainability in the practice while promoting an interdisciplinary scientific approach.

COMCOL, an integral part of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), serves as a global hub for sharing new museum findings and case studies, fostering worldwide networks, and aiding in the development of museum collections.
