Despite being closed to the public, Bowers Museum, partnered with Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, is ready to present "Treasures in Gold & Jade: Masterworks from Taiwan", which features the outstanding sculptures of two of Taiwan’s premier artists: Wu Ching, a sculptor who creates intricate carvings in wood which he translates to 99.9% gold using a mold; and Huang Fu-shou, whose skill for jade carving allows him to create impossibly delicate tableaux. Welcome the Year of the Ox! LunarFest Presents Arts from Taiwan in Canada! |

From January 21 to February 28, 2021 LunarFest will start a series of cultural dialogues with the theme "Family is Everything". Artist Susan Point of Canada and treasured artist Sakuliu Pavavalung of Taiwan present the Coastal Lunar Lanterns based on Indigenous culture and legends. The combination of Taiwan's Hakka Wei Jie Huang, Japanese Toru Hayakawa, and Mongolian Jiya Urianghai creates an online storytelling concert. In addition, please join us at an international hot pot dinner! It is a virtual feast that people from multiple communities of Taiwan and Canada talking about their family stories and food culture for New Year's holiday. Let’s welcome the happy and auspicious year of 2021 together!

For the virtual opening of Taiwanese artist Nung-Hsin Hu’s exhibition "Incurable Nostalgia" on December 3, 2020, the artists and special guests Hitomi Iwasaki (Director of Exhibitions and Programs at the Queens Museum), Jessica Kairé (Artist and Co-founder of NuMu), and Frida Cano (Assistant Curator/Artist Residency Coordinator at 18th Street Arts Center) exchanged nostalgic recipes in advance and prepared each other’s meals for the dinner conversation, which is now online!
