Yuan Goang-Ming’s Everyday War will be on display in Asian Art Museum, San Francisco |
Yuan Goang-Ming’s Everyday War, partially sponsored by the Taiwan Academy, will be brought to the Asian Art Museum (AAM) in San Francisco in the following months from April 3 to July 7. This large-scale exhibition in the brand-new gallery will be the artist’s first North American solo show. It will feature nine works which record ordinary but significant moments in Taiwan such as military exercises or civil movements to convey people's desire for security and peace through poetic visual narratives. Yuan’s work trains an unblinking, glacially cool digital gaze on poignant scenes of global and domestic unease and captures moments that resonate with current living conditions worldwide. The exhibition is curated by Abby Chen, AAM’s curator of contemporary art, who was also invited to curate Yuan’s celebrated presentation in the 60th Venice Biennale. Kicking off the exhibition, Yuan and Chen will be invited to participate in the “Night of Ideas” event in the museum to share the power of art in the contemporary world on April 5. Tzu-Ching Chang's solo exhibition "The Poetry Within the Depths of Tea" at Steep LA Tea Room |
The “isart gallery” from Taiwan has brought the artist Tzu-Ching Chang's latest solo exhibition “The Poetry Within the Depths of Tea” at the tea room "Steep LA". This exhibition consists of works inspired by tea. The artist transforms the tea she has tasted into colors and textures on the canvas, bringing the audience a deep sensory and cultural experience. As an artist who loves tea culture, Tzu-Ching's collaboration with Steep LA not only sparks off the Asian tradition in contemporary art, but also invite more people to understand the profound tea heritage across the world. In her works, delicate textures and gradient colors show a visual sense of layering, and imply a deep reflection on life and emotions. Visit before March 31 at https://steepla.com/. |

Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles has collaborated with the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) for Emerging Translator Mentorship since 2020. In 2025, ALTA announced Lya Shaffer being chosen for the mentee of the Emerging Translator mentorship for Literature from Taiwan, and she will embark on a nine-month journey with mentor Lin King on the translation of Taiwanese writer Chuanfen Chang’s Hooligan Wang Xinfu (流氓王信福). Lya found herself intrigued by Chuanfen Chang’s exquisite narration of a little character in the face of the authoritarian system of injustice while presenting the social background in a macroscopic way, which deserves to be shared with readers worldwide. Lya is honored to work on the English translation of this book and thrilled that the project will benefit from Lin King’s mentorship.
