"Lee Mingwei: Rituals of Care" Exhibition Opens in De Young Museum |

Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, partnering with the De Young Museum in San Francisco, presents "Lee Mingwei: Rituals of Care." This exhibition brings together 6 interactive installations and performance works by Li Mingwei, which have been well-received in recent years around the world. In addition, a newly commissioned work “Chaque souffle une danse” will be on view. The exhibition opens at the de Young museum on February 17 and runs through July 7, 2024. Small Island Big Song is a music, film and performing arts project uniting the islands of the Pacific and Indian Ocean through artistic collaboration, a contemporary and relevant musical statement from a region that shares an ancient seafaring heritage and the impact of our changing sea. The performance ‘Our Island’ brings together some of the most prominent artists of Taiwan, Madagascar, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, and Tahiti, who have made a choice to maintain the cultural voice of their people, to sing in the language, and to play the instruments of their land. Don’t miss the wonderful show at Meany Hall Theater & Vashon art center.

“Island In Between” Nominated for Oscars Documentary Short Film |

A round of applause to Director S. Leo Chiang for his film "Island in Between," nominated for the 96th Academy Awards documentary short film. The film, commissioned by CNEX Taiwan, delves into the unstable situation on the Kinmen Islands through a first-person, poetic approach while weaving in scenes of tourist visits and local life. The film also unfolds the memory of the director’s father serving on the island as a soldier, attempting to illustrate the relationship between Taiwan, Kinmen, and China. Taiwanese Designers Nominated for the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards |

Taiwan Academy of TECO LA held a press conference for the Taiwanese designers who have been nominated for the Best Recording Package of the 66th Annual GRAMMY Awards! The nominated teams are Yu Wei and Li Jheng Han 's team, who won the Grammy Award for Taiwan for the first time two years ago, and designer Niou Zhong's work for Hakka singer Ye Ying's album "Migration". In addition, Designer Star Cheng combines paper cutting with the characteristics of musical instruments to create a three-dimensional paper-cutting record for the album " Cadenza 21'" by producer Hsuan Chang Kitano. |
Funding Production of Motion Pictures and Television Dramas in Taiwan by Foreign Motion Picture and Television Production Enterprises |

The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development of the Ministry of Culture (BAMID) initiates funding to facilitate film and screen production by foreign motion picture and television production enterprises in the Republic of China (Taiwan), as well as the partnership and assistance of domestic motion picture and television production enterprises with their foreign counterparts, and to augment domestic motion picture and television production enterprises experience in international production operations.
Eligibility: 1. The Funding is open to application by any well-reputed international motion picture director with an amount of NT$3 million minimum allocated for the motion picture production expenses in the Republic of China (Taiwan). 2. The Funding is open to application by any foreign motion picture production enterprise with an amount of NT$30 million or above allocated for the motion picture production expenses in the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Accounting of the Funding: 1.The amount of Funding accounts for up to 30 percent of the total expenditure of production in the Republic of China for a motion picture with a ceiling of NT$30 million. 2. In the event that a motion picture also acquires investments or grants from other governmental agencies (institutions), public enterprises, or non-departmental public bodies or foundations sponsored and established by the government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the aggregated amount of the aforementioned sums and the amount of the Funding herein shall not exceed 50 percent of the total expenditure of production in the Republic of China (Taiwan) for the motion picture.

Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition Open Calls |

Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition had already grown into an internationally recognized annual event and become a globally important art exchange platform by April 2002. Every year, there are more than 1,500 artists from around the world submitting works in eleven fine arts categories. The deadline for online applications is April 15. Paper applications will be based on the date of mailing. Late applications will not be accepted. 1. Qualifications: All domestic and foreign artists. 2. Participants can apply to multiple categories, but may only submit one item for each category. The organizer reserves the right to disqualify any applicant from participating in the Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition for a three-year period if they are found copying, imitating or forging the works of other artists. 3. Entries must be works created personally by the participant on 2021 or afterwards. Works (including works that form part of a series) that have won awards or been shortlisted in open calls for entry and competitions (excl. school competitions) are not eligible for submission. |

The Taoyuan International Art Award, which is held every two years and aims to cultivate talent in contemporary art broaden global perspectives, and foster international exchanges, is now calling for entries.
Entry Submission: April 1 – April 26, 2024 Exhibition Build-up: March 3 – March 20, 2025 at Taoyuan Arts Center Exhibition: March 25 – April 30, 2025
Eligibility: Artists may participate as an individual or a group. There are no limits on nationality. Simultaneous registrations in both the individual and group categories are prohibited.However, this restriction does not apply to those participating as working members of other teams.
