Left-handed Girl_1920x1080
Left-Handed Girl, directed by Shih-Ching Tsou, has been selected to represent Taiwan in the Best International Feature Film category at the 2026 Academy Awards. Set in a Taipei night market, the film follows a single mother and her daughters through the eyes of a young girl. The lively marketplace becomes more than a backdrop—it embodies the warmth of family ties, the struggles of self-discovery, and the cultural pulse of contemporary Taiwan. The film has already earned international recognition, winning the Gan Foundation Award and the Rail d’Or Award at Cannes Critics’ Week, competing in the main program at the Busan International Film Festival, and screening at both the Toronto and Vancouver International Film Festivals.

The release schedule begins in France on September 17, 2025, followed by a nationwide release in Taiwan on October 31. North American audiences will be able to see the film in theaters starting November 14, with a Netflix release across North America on November 28. Left-Handed Girl is poised to bring Taiwan’s stories to the world, sharing the depth and warmth of our culture with a wider international audience.
