Twincussion, a Taiwanese percussion duo, will perform and conduct workshops in Yakima and Wenatchee, Washington State from February 10th to 15th as part of the sixth edition of the Center Stage program by the US Department of State. All are invited to attend and watch the performances.
Center Stage, a public diplomacy initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, is a cultural exchange program administered by the New England Foundation for the Arts and the Regional Arts Organizations. Selected from 123 nominated Taiwanese ensembles, Twincussion and Resident Island Dance Theatre will participate in the Center Stage Season 6 U.S. Tour during the 2022-2023 performance season.
Twincussion, a dynamic percussion duo comprised of the charismatic rising stars and twin brothers Jen-Ting and Jen-Yu Chien, was formed in 2010. Both hold the Advanced Postgraduate (Soloist) Diploma from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. With their tacit bond as twins, the ensemble showcases their unique charm in music and excellent technique during performances. Twincussion has performed at international music festivals and won numerous awards, including Grand Honorable Mention (2nd place) at the 2014 Southern California International Marimba Competition, first prize in the ensemble category at the International Percussion Competition in Italy in 2016, first prize in the Chamber Music Category at the New York Golden Classical Music Awards in 2018, and first prize in the Soloist Competition at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in the same year. They also received the Idella Foundation scholarship in Copenhagen in 2018.
Twincussion's US tour kicked off on February 1st at The Kennedy Center (Live Streaming Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfkoy77emRA).
