The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles, in partnership with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF), welcomes talented Taiwanese short film filmmakers to submit their applications for the HFPA scholarship. Up to twelve selected Asian short films will be screened at the AWFF’s short film program in 2022. The winner, chosen by a designated Jury of HEPA, will be awarded a US$5,000 scholarship and a Snow Leopard trophy at the AWFF’s event.
The submission for the HFPA scholarship is open now until September 30, 2022. The narrative short film (not animation or documentary) completed in 2021 or 2022 and produced or directed by a Taiwanese, Taiwanese American or anyone of Taiwanese descent (or a cast of mainly Taiwanese), are all eligible to apply. To showcase the new talented filmmaker, the film must be one of the filmmaker’s first three films and no longer than 15 minutes in length.
Twelve finalists will be preliminarily selected by AWFF, and HFPA will choose the winner. Taiwanese short filmmakers are welcome to submit through taiwanacademyla@moc.gov.tw.
