The 11th American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) will be held on April 7-11, 2022 at the Camelot Theatres of Palm Springs, California, featuring over 200 documentary and animated works from around the world. The Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles partners with AmDocs for the first time, showcasing 5 films and a Taiwan-themed mixer on the opening night of April 7, 2022. Taiwanese director Wei-Hsin Yang and 2 Taiwanese professional dancers from the documentary film Ballet In Tandem will attend the festival to unveil the first-time partnership between Taiwan and AmDocs.
The line-up of Taiwan includes No Man Is An Island, a film about the panic caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic, Ballet In Tandem, a film about the development of ballet in Taiwan, an animation short film Girl In The Water, and 2 documentary short films Life In The Coral Reef and Highway Prose. With the presence of the director and 2 dancers Shih-Huai Liang and Jung-An Kuo from Ballet In Tandem, the Taiwan mixer on April 7, 2022 will be mixing in Taiwanese cuisine with live performance. All are welcome to join. “We are thrilled with the first-time collaboration with AmDocs,” said Director General Louis M. Huang of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles. “We look forward to extending international exposure of Taiwanese cinematic works through our participation in the festival.”
Created in 2011, AmDocs takes place annually in Palm Springs, California, with a group of people that support independent films as its main audiences. It has been recognized by MovieMaker Magazine as one of the five coolest documentary film festivals in the world. "AmDocs is excited and honored to partner with the Taiwan Academy of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Los Angeles,” said Teddy Grouya, Director of AmDocs. “With the surge in popularity of documentary and animated films in recent years, we feel that it's the perfect time to bring people back together in a safe, social setting to view these widely appealing genres. We are proud to be able to showcase incredible films, both documentary and animated works, along with filmmakers from Taiwan, extending our friendship with an Asian partner in order to further expand the reach and opportunity for filmmakers from around the world.”
