Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles Hosts Cross-cultural Art Exhibition Exploring Themes of the Ocean and Memories as Metaphors for Immigration

  • Date:2017-12-05

The Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles(https://www.facebook.com/taiwanacademyla/) opens a new group exhibition entitled “The Ocean of Memories” at its exhibition space in Westwood, California on Thursday, December 7, 2017. An opening reception with the artists will be held between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., with a timed artist presentation program at 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The exhibition features four artists from Taiwan, the United States, and Canada including winners of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and the Associated Press' Gramling Award: Danielle Eubank, Susan Hannon, Fong-Chi Lien, and Cindy Shih.

The artists have created work for this exhibition exploring the theme of the ocean and memories as metaphors for immigration, and as elements that both divide and unite cultures and people. The opening exhibition will feature a special presentation by the artists regarding their artwork and their memories of the ocean. The exhibition will also include an interactive element featuring anonymous submissions of memories of the ocean by the public to be displayed on a screen.

The exhibition is curated by Henry Lien and is made possible by the cooperation of the Glass Garage Gallery (www.glassgaragegallery.com) and bG Gallery(www.santamonica.bgartdealings.com). The exhibition runs through February 16, 2018.
