Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles partners with UCLA to continue the second year of the "Taiwan in Dialogue” Virtual Lecture Series. Taiwanese directors Arvin Chen (陳駿霖) and Feng-I Fiona Roan (阮鳳儀) are invited to attend the first two sessions on April 14 at 4 p.m. PT and April 28 at 6 p.m. PT. Join LACMA Virtual Taiwanese-language Film Series in May

Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles, partnering with the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), will present a virtual Taiwanese-language Film Series "Dreaming Impossible Dreams" in May! This program will screen 6 restored black and white “taiyupian” from Taiwan’s lost commercial film period of the 1950s-1960s, includes “The Husband's Secret” (丈夫的秘密), “Fantasy of the Deer Warrior” (大俠梅花鹿), “Little Heroes vs. Two Masked Villains” (雙雄大鬥雙假面), “Romance at Lungshan Temple”(龍山寺之戀), “The Best Secret Agent” (天字第一號) and “Six Suspects” (六個嫌疑犯). During this period, over 1200 black and white films were made in black and white film and primarily in Taiwanese language. For more information, please stay tuned at https://www.lacma.org/

The 2022 Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) was launched on April 14-24, 2022, featuring 6 Taiwanese films, including Moneyboys (金錢男孩), Listen Before You Sing (聽見歌 再唱), Execution in Autumn (秋決), Night Bus (夜車), Part Forever (永別), and Tank Fairy (桶妝仙女).

Taiwanese Designers Jheng Han Li and Wei Yu Won Best Recording Package at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards

Taiwanese Designers Jheng Han Li (李政瀚) and Wei Yu (于薇) of the album Pakelang won the GRAMMY Award for Best Recording Package! It was also the first time that Taiwanese designers won a GRAMMY Award! The GRAMMY-awarded album Pakelang was the collaboration between “2nd Generation Falangao Singing Group” and the band “The Chairman” who rearranged the Amis’ ancient ballads with elements of reggae, electronic and rock music. The designers started out with the images of Taiwan’s east coast by using paper cutouts to show the silhouettes of coastlines, mountain ranges and the Amis people singing. Taiwanese Ballet Documentary Won Jury Award at AmDocs 2022

The documentary "Ballet in Tandem" (舞徑) by Taiwanese director Wei-hsin Yang (楊偉新) won Best International Feature Jury Award at this year's American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs). "Ballet in Tandem" is a feature-length documentary that explores the state of ballet in Taiwan, and focuses on several Taiwanese dancers who dedicated themselves to the art form and the challenges they faced along the way.
